Why Metaphysics and Spirituality Speak to My Soul…
I often get asked why metaphysics and spirituality resonate so deeply with me. Why did I choose a path that might feel unfamiliar—or even daunting—to some? Let me share the why, the how, and the quiet beauty of this way of being that has profoundly shaped my life.
Over 30 years ago, I took my first tentative steps into the world of metaphysics. Honestly, back then, the very idea of spirits, ghosts, or angels felt… strange. Like so many people, I was deeply skeptical of anything I couldn’t see or explain. But Spirit is patient. As the saying goes, “When the student is ready, the teacher appears.” And appear they did.
Slowly, my heart began to open to the unseen. I started noticing the subtle ways Spirit moves through everyday life—the gentle nudges, the unexpected alignments, the moments that defy mere coincidence.
One of the cornerstones of my journey has been synchronicity: those perfect alignments when the right person, book, experience, or opportunity arrives exactly when you need it. Looking back, I’m continually in awe of how many such moments have guided me. They’re like breadcrumbs left by the Universe—quiet affirmations of growth, gentle invitations to evolve further.
In 2012, when I announced to friends and loved ones that I was sharing my spiritual journey online, I knew the reactions would be mixed. Stepping forward as a Spiritualist, openly embracing metaphysics, can feel a bit like coming out of the closet. As humans, we often fear what we don’t yet understand.
Take spirit guides, for example. I once dismissed them entirely. Now I experience them as a loving, divine team—always present, communicating through signs in what we feel, think, notice, and do. The moment we choose to trust we’re not alone, those signs become unmistakable.
For me, spirituality isn’t confined to rituals, dogmas, or rigid rules. It’s an expansive, living connection to a Power greater than ourselves—something words can only gesture toward. It’s deeply personal, and for some of us, it’s also a quiet rebellion against those who wield spirituality as a means of control.
I also hold a belief in reincarnation—not as a ledger for balancing karma, but as an ongoing journey of learning through the richness (and challenges) of human experience. As I once wrote in my book, Revelations of a Singing Bowl: “While in Spirit there is no doubt, no uncertainty… that is how you know.”
This path hasn’t always been easy, but it has been deeply transformative.
My hope in sharing this is to gently invite you to reflect: What does spirituality mean to you? Where have you glimpsed synchronicity in your own life? And how might you open your heart just a little more to the guidance that’s already there, patiently waiting for you to notice?
My thoughts, poems, and reflections have been gathered in two free eBook collections, available exclusively at Apple Books. Blending poetry, personal essays, meditative practices, and imaginative fiction, these works are an open invitation: to pause, to listen deeply, and to nurture the divine spark that lives within us all.
Feel free to explore them whenever the moment feels right.
